(415) is a loop-based audio project about five neighborhoods in San Francisco: Potrero Hill, Mission, Sunset, North Beach and SoMA.

Collected field recordings from these neighborhoods are the basis of 25 minutes of music in nine parts. Instrumentation consists largely of pocket piano and sampled guitars, which have been stretched, reversed, looped, delayed, and decayed.

The result is 10 cassette tapes, consisting of the album, each with a unique screen printed album cover sourced from maps and photographs of the neighborhoods.

(415) premiered at KALA Art Institute in Berkeley in May 2016 as a part of Wavelength for Art, a show about the intersection of audio and visual art.

All songs and recordings by Eliot Larson.

track 3 contains a sample of “Urbana’s Too Dark” by Braid.
track 9 contains a sample of “Passenger Seat” by Death Cab For Cutie.
